Everyday Necessities Drive starts Tuesday
Beginning Tuesday, the nonprofit Gary and Mary West PACE will host its annual “Everyday Necessities Drive for North County Seniors.”
This year’s wish list includes warm clothing accessories such as scarves, mittens, gloves, socks (grip resistant); fleece blankets; lip balm; hand soap; men’s undershirts; and toothpaste and toothbrushes for area seniors in need.
Items can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, through Dec. 18, at the West PACE center, 1706 Descanso Ave., San Marcos.
A drive-up collection event at West PACE is planned for 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Dec. 10 with coffee and a holiday treat. Visit westpace.org.
Drive-thru toy collection for military kids
Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a drive-thru toy collection for military children from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church’s parking lot, 17010 Pomerado Road.
Toys are needed for children up to age 12, including board games, sports balls, puzzles, arts and crafts along with baby wipes and gift cards. Place toys in a gift bag marked with targeted age and gender.

Jersey Mike’s offers matching campaign
Jersey Mike’s Subs has made a $300,000 donation to support a matching campaign for national nonprofit Wreaths Across America. The goal is to sponsor 40,000 veterans’ wreaths for placement on Dec. 18, National Wreaths Across America Day.
The campaign runs through Tuesday, and every $15 wreath sponsorship made at wreathsacrossamerica.org/jerseymikes will be matched by the company up to $300,000.

Tri-city auxiliary looking for volunteers
The Tri-city Hospital Auxiliary is in need of more volunteers. The all-volunteer auxiliary, which was formed more than 60 years ago, provides support throughout Tri-city Medical Center.
Volunteers help in various ways, ranging from serving as shuttle drivers and hospital escorts to staffing the Information Desk and gift shop and providing registration assistance. Shop proceeds are used for scholarships and needed medical equipment.

Animal shelter seeks foster volunteers
Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe is in need of foster volunteers who care for pets not ready yet for adoption because they are too young or need medical treatment or are nursing moms or need spay/neuter surgery or vaccines.
Foster assignments can range from a few days to several months.

Nonprofit opens campaign Tuesday
Townspeople, a Hillcrest nonprofit that has helped the homeless since 1984, opens an end-of-year giving campaign from Nov. 30, also known as Giving Tuesday, through Dec. 31.
Townspeople’s goal is to raise at least $5,000 for a variety of kits for their clients, who are families, people living with HIV or AIDS, and veterans.
Move-in kit items will include basic furniture, dishes and kitchen utensils, hygiene products, housecleaning supplies and other household essentials.
The apartment complexes owned and operated by Townspeople are in Normal Heights, Talmadge and southeastern San Diego.

Give Hope, Share Joy fundraiser
Feeding San Diego is running its Give Hope, Share Joy fundraising campaign that will support large-scale drive-thru food distributions, cover rising food and transportation costs, increase food supply to mobile pantries in rural areas of eastern San Diego County and provide meals for children and families in partnership with school districts and other youth-based programs.
