DUCKS CLINCH NORTH TITLE

Oregon quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. got one chance to face rival Oregon State in his career with the Ducks, and he made it count.

No. 11 Oregon 38, Oregon State 29

Brown threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns while running for another score, and No. 11 Oregon beat visiting Oregon State 38-29 on Saturday to win the Pac-12 North Division and claim a spot in the league’s championship game.

“I can just check that off my box of things I always wanted to do. Today was special,” said Brown, a graduate transfer from Boston College who played behind Tyler Shough last season.

Now there’s more for Brown to accomplish.

The Ducks (10-2, 7-2) will face No. 16 Utah for the conference championship in Las Vegas on Friday.

Oregon was coming off a 38-7 loss last Saturday against the Utes, which dropped it from No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings to No. 11 and out of contention for a national title.

Oregon extended its home winning streak to 19 games, including 15 conference games.

Devon Williams had six catches for 110 yards and a touchdown for Oregon, which will play for the league title for the third consecutive season.

B.J. Baylor ran for 59 yards for the Beavers, who are bowl eligible for the first time since 2013.

No. 6 Notre Dame 45, Stanford 14: Jack Coan threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score and Notre Dame finished off the regular season with a victory over host Stanford to keep its playoff hopes alive.

The Fighting Irish (11-1, No. 6 CFP) won their final seven games following a home loss to Cincinnati but will likely need some help next week to get into the College Football Playoff for the third time in the past four seasons.

Stanford (3-9) lost its seventh straight game to end the season following an upset of then-no. 3 Oregon for its longest losing streak and most losses in a season since a 1-11 campaign in 2006. The Cardinal were outscored 17346 over the final four games.

Arizona State 38, Arizona 15: The question of whether Herm Edwards will continue as Arizona State’s coach has been answered.

There’s no debating it now. Athletic Director Ray Anderson told the team that Edwards will be back after the Sun Devils won their fifth straight against rival Arizona. Edwards isn’t retiring, either.

Jayden Daniels accounted for three touchdowns, Jack Jones returned an interception 87 yards for a touchdown and Arizona State beat host Arizona.

The Sun Devils (8-4, 6-3 Pac-12) won in a blowout a year ago, but needed a big second half in the rematch to pull away.

Daniels threw for two touchdowns and ran for a 48yard score and Jones capped it with his second big play of the game to get past Arizona (1-11, 1-8).
