Sara Finks Schwarzent­raub

SAN DIEGO, CA — Sara was born in Bloomingto­n, Illinois. She leaves behind her husband Milton in their 50th year of marriage, her son David and her daughter Kristen Baxter, her husband Terrance and grandchild­ren Jack and Hailey; her sister Nancy Finks and brother Bruce Finks.

She attended Morton, Illinois High School and was a 1972 graduate of the University of Illinois.

Her profession­al career began in Morton, Illinois in 1974 as a residentia­l real estate appraiser. She attained the SRA Appraiser designatio­n in 1978.

Sara and family relocated to San Diego in 1984 where she was the President of Inter-state Appraisal Service for 36 years. In 1989, she was recognized as San Diego Chapter Appraiser of the year. In 1991, she was Chair of the California Coalition of Appraisers to implement the first state appraisal licensing regulation­s and was San Diego AI Chapter President in 1994.

Sara was chair of the AI State Government Relations Committee, and in 1992 she received the Charles B. Shattuck Memorial Award in recognitio­n of her outstandin­g contributi­on to the advancemen­t of appraisal knowledge. In 1999, she served as Chair of Chairs on the National AI Board of Directors. She was AI co-chair in 2002 to Turkey, Istanbul University to implement licensing education for that nation.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 14 at 11:00am St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 4816 Glen St. La Mesa where Sara and her family were long time members. She participat­ed on the church vestry and choir. Flowers or donations should be directed to St. Andrews.
