Robert ‘Bob’ Fullerton

September 24, 1931 - December 13, 2021

ESCONDIDO, CA — Robert “Bob” Fullerton, a long time resident of Escondido, California passed away on December 13, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born to Donald “Bud” and Frieda Jewel Fullerton in Pendleton, Oregon, on September 24, 1931.

Bob was a star athlete of the Pendleton Buckaroos football team and an army veteran during the Korean Conflict. He attended Eastern Oregon College of Education where he met his wife Shirley. They completed their education at Oregon State College where they graduated in 1957 with degrees in Education and Science. Bob then began work as a high school math instructor in Lebanon, Oregon. In 1961, he received a National Science Foundation Grant and attended Highland University in Las Vegas, New Mexico where he received his Master’s Degree.

In 1963, the family moved to Escondido where he began a 32-year career as a math instructor at Palomar College. During his teaching career he had the opportunity to participate in two sabbaticals overseas to study innovations in math instruction, and travel with his family in numerous European countries.

He was known as a patient and dedicated teacher at Palomar Community College, who encouraged all of his students to succeed. He also enjoyed travelling, racquetball, tennis, and family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley, his three children, Mark (Angela), Denise and Brian Eric (Mindy), six grandchildren and a sibling, Terri. He was preceded in death by his siblings Kathryn, Caroline, Leroy, Donna, Patti and Ron.
