The state has recognized 2022 California Classified Employees of the Year.

Besides choosing their Classified Employees of the Year, many school districts have also named their Teachers of the Year, some of whom will go on to compete for the county and then the state title. The San Diego County Office of Education plans to choose and honor the San Diego County teachers of the year in the fall.

South County’s school district winners — certificat­ed employees followed by classified employees — are:

Chula Vista Elementary School District: Jonathan Seligman, music, Joseph Casillas Elementary School, Sarah Ortega, fourth grade, Harborside Elementary School, and Cynthia Montano, fourth grade, Lilian J. Rice Elementary School; Maryann Sandoval, instructio­nal assistant-special education, Valle Lindo Elementary School; Blanca Villavicen­cio, noon duty supervisor, Rosebank Elementary; Amanda Marsden, licensed vocational nurse, Rogers Elementary School

Coronado Unified School District: William Lemei, physics/ap physics, Coronado High School; Terri Freepartne­r, administra­tive assistant, human resources, district office

National School District: Jacqueline Ma, sixth grade, Lincoln Acres School; Veronica Garcia, administra­tive assistant-school, Ira Harbison Elementary
