LA MESA, CA — Beverly Joyce Shaw Hinton passed away in La Mesa, California on November !0, 2021. She was 89 years old.

Beverly was born November 17, 1931 in Indianapol­is, Indiana. She moved to Inverness, California where she attended elementary school and Tomales Bay Union High School. She finished high school at Amphitheat­er High School in Tucson Arizona. She entered the University of Arizona where she met her husband James Forrest Hinton. They were married on October 20, 1950. After a short time in Ohio, Beverly moved to La Mesa, California where she spent most of her life.

Beverly was active in the Fletcher Hills Presbyteri­an Church where she served as an elder. She was also involved in the PTA, women’s committee of the Grossmont Concert

Associatio­n and AAUW. After Beverly raised her four children she returned to school and earned a degree in English Literature from San Diego State University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Beverly was the daughter of Gordon and Oneida Shaw and the sister of Diane Shaw Preciado. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, James Forrest Hinton, her son James Forrest Hinton (Cheryl), Nancy Moore (Guy), Susan Vozely (Kurt), Beverly Hinton (Bill), her brother Larry Shaw, her niece Shirley Duffy, nine grandchild­ren and nine great-grandchild­ren.

Beverly loved music, literature, the ocean, and beauty in all its forms. She especially loved her family and friends. She will live in our hearts forever.
