Southwestern College offering free classes in I.B. Southwestern College will be hosting two classes in Imperial Beach locations: • A free art therapy class starts Feb. 16 at the Imperial Beach Senior Community Center. In-person registration will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the senior center, 1075 Eighth St., to help anyone interested in taking the new class. The course will meet from 1:30 to 3:20 p.m. from Feb. 16 to March 23 and is designed for older adults and focuses on the use of art as a creative expression and as a therapeutic process. National City chamber holds mixer in Bonita
The National City Chamber of Commerce hosts its first mixer of 2023 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chula Vista Golf Course, 4475 Bonita Road, Bonita. Promote your services and products with other business owners. Canapes provided; cash bar available. Free, but please register at nationalcitychamber.org.
Free Fix-it Clinic at south C.V. library
The South Chula Vista branch library will host a free San Diego Fix-it Clinic from 10 a .m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Zero Waste San Diego launched the first SD Fix-it Clinic in 2016. Bring broken, non-functioning electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, etc., for assessment and possible repair. Specialty tools and guidance will be provided to help you take apart and troubleshoot your item. Family-friendly event; children are welcome. Register at bit.ly/3xspius. North Island Credit Union offering scholarships
North Island Credit Union invites college-bound students in San Diego County to apply for its 2023 Student Scholarship Program. The credit union provides $20,000 in scholarships annually to students. Those eligible are San Diego County college-bound high school seniors and community college students transferring to four-year universities who are maintaining a 3.0 average. Other criteria are academic performance, school or community involvement, a letter of recommendation, and an essay submission. Stargazing offered at Cabrillo Monument
Join the San Diego Astronomy Association members and their telescopes from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cabrillo National Monument. The Old

Wyyerd Fiber Optic holds a ribbon cutting at its new headquarters at 11 a.m. Thursday at 401 Mile of Cars Way, National City. The National City Chamber of Commerce is co-hosting the free event.

The city of Imperial Beach is seeking community volunteers to fill vacancies on several committees: Parks and Recreation Committee, Tidelands Advisory Committee and Design Review Board. STEAM art contest envisions the future
The San Diego County Engineering Council is sponsoring a STEAM art contest for all county students in grades K-12. The theme is “Creating The Future.” Entries must include a creative invention or a science, technology, engineering, art or math (STEAM) role model. Winners in each of two grade level categories will get a $25 gift certificate and be recognized during the San Diego Engineers Week Festival in February. Artwork and artist statements are due Feb. 10. The contest is hosted in partnership with the SWENEXT Eastlake High School Club.
