SAN DIEGO, CA — Marian A. Waggoner, 97, of San Diego, Ca passed away peacefully May 24, 2022 at home.
Marian was born June 16, 1924 to Andrew Bell and Nevis Marron Bell, the youngest of four children. Marian worked as a babysitter, restaurant dishwasher, gas station attendant, mechanic, bookkeeper, and Rohr Aircraft in the Sabotage Department working on carburetors. She was like “Rosie The Riveter”!
Marian’s interest were bike riding, horseback riding, running, dancing, music, gardening, played on the girls softball ball team for Sweetwater High School, church and school activities, fundraisers, traveling, camping and more!
Marian met Lem Waggoner December of 1943, while he was
serving in World War II with the US Navy. They married October 22, 1944 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Old Town, a church her father helped build.
Marian was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had six children, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren. Marian loved her family and friends, and loved having gatherings and picnics at the bay. Loved God’s creatures - birds, butterflies, box turtles. She will be remembered for her pot roast and grilled cheese sandwiches, these were among the favorites! Most of all for her loving ways, strong faith, determination to make the best of any situation, her great humor and beautiful smile. She touched our lives in many ways and will be missed deeply. She leaves behind her husband Lem and family.
Services were held June 8, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church in Old Town and she was laid to rest at El Camino Memorial Park Cemetery.
