Charles E. Little

SAN DIEGO — Charles E. Little, fondly known as Chuck, passed away peacefully October 3, 2023 after a surgical complication.

Chuck was a man of determination and unwavering spirit. He was a life-long patriot and cared greatly for his country.

Chuck was born on August 7, 1930 in Springfield Missouri. He moved to San Diego at the age of 11 with his mother and step-father. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1948.

At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Army and was a Military Police Officer in the Korean War. After he returned from the war, he went to work at Sears, where he made lifelong friendships and met his beautiful wife, Beverly.

Chuck and Bev married

August 7, 1930 - October 3, 2023 on November 4, 1967. He was a loving husband to Bev for just short of 56 years. He became an instant Dad to Bev’s daughter, Shara, whom he lovingly raised as his own.

Chuck was a self-made man. He and his business partner started Gaines Plumbing in the early 1960s. He ran the business until the early 1980s, going to work six days a week with the utmost dedication and integrity.

Chuck was the most

generous of men. He shared equally, his wisdom and his wealth.

One of his greatest joys in life was his family: His daughter Shara (Steve) Stadler, and he was immensely proud of his two grandsons, Christopher (Aimee) Stadler, Brett (Regina) Stadler and his three great-grandchildren, Cole, Morgan and Charlee. Children were some of his favorite people in life.

During their years together, Chuck and Bev traveled the world and had legendary parties with Chuck behind the bar making his famous Bloody Mary’s. They had their beautiful home in Lake Tahoe for close to 40 years, where they had family and friends come to stay. Chuck was still snow skiing into his early 80’s. The memories they made in Tahoe will live on forever.

Chuck was a friend to all and one you wanted to have. He was a mentor to many young people, family and friends who wanted to be like him.

A life well lived doesn’t even begin to cover his successes and adventures. His wisdom, love and guidance will live on in all of us who knew him.

Chuck’s memorial will be Friday November 17, 9:30-10:00 am at Miramar National Cemetery. His Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 18, 12:00 – 3:00pm at Singing Hills Golf Resort. Please RSVP to Shara at shara. stadler@outlook.com.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity in Chuck’s memory.
