Parkinson’s group meets for brunch
Center will host its annual fundraiser, Jingle & Mingle, at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Morgan Run Club and Resort in Rancho Santa Fe to raise money to provide food and shelter to neighbors in need. The event includes music, food, beverages, Mingling & Jingling with CRC supporters, staff, and volunteers, and hearing about the impact of the center along with a silent auction and raffle and jewelry pop-up shops, including unique collections from CRC’S Resale Stores. Alternative Christmas Market set for Nov. 19
An Alternative Christmas Market is from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 19 at the Village Church’s patio, 6225 Paseo Delicias, with more than a dozen booths representing various charities. Attendees can find out about the charities and make donations in honor of friends and family for the holidays. The charities programs range from helping farmers out of poverty, providing clothing for homeless families and helping shelter Afghan and Ukrainian refugees in San Diego, along with funding Christian satellite programming in the Middle East. SAN DIEGO Pacific Rim Park Friendship Walk
The second Pacific Rim Park Friendship Walk, hosted by the Ilan-lael Foundation, is set to take place from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at Shoreline Park on Shelter Island, celebrating cultural diversity, environmental conservation, and the Pacific Rim Park Project. Balboa Park Miniature Train marks 75 years
A 75th anniversary celebration of the Balboa Park Miniature Train is from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday with free train rides for all ages. Every 30 minutes, the San Diego Zoo will randomly select one child to be an “honorary engineer” and receive a free train kit, with a whistle and hat. Free toy train meet features Santa
The All Gauge Toy Train Association hosts a Holiday Open House, known as “San Diego’s Largest Toy Train Meet” for all ages, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, 6556 Park Ridge Blvd. Admission and parking are free. Lunch will be available at a small cost. Santa will be stopping by to give children a free stocking filled with goodies and he will host a free Child Train Toys Raffle where each child under age 12 gets a free ticket to win. E-waste collection event to benefit vets
Pechanga Arena will host an electronic waste collection event from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday with Envirogreen Electronic Recycling Services in the parking lot at Pechanga Arena, 3500 Sports Arena Blvd. The event will be a fundraiser for Veterans Village of San Diego, which helps veterans with housing, health care and mental health counseling, among other services. Most electronic items will be accepted at no cost. A nominal fee will be charged for collection of some items, such as refrigerators. Paper shredding is $5 per “bankers box” and destruction of hard drives is $10 per drive.
The San Diego Point Loma Parkinson’s Support Group meets from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Point Loma Café, 4865 N. Harbor Drive, to “meet, greet and eat.” There will be a no-host brunch and discussion group for people with Parkinson’s disease and care partners. Proof of vaccinations/boosters required. SAN DIEGO COUNTY 800th anniversary celebration of Nativity
A communitywide celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Christmas Nativity scene created by St. Francis of Assisi is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, 2540 San Diego Ave., in Old Town. There will be a prayer ritual, consisting of readings and carols. Bring a figurine from your Christmas crèche to be blessed. A similar event is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Old Mission San Luis Rey, 4050 Mission Ave., in Oceanside. Free food and supplies distribution
The Rock Church will host free distributions of groceries along with diapers and supplies for community members in need during November and December. Here are dates and times:

SAN MARCOS ‘Three Coins’ author to give talk Wednesday
California State University San Marcos’ Arts And Lectures Program will host Russell Low, author of “Three Coins,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the University Student Union Ballroom. VISTA Senior center holds Thanksgiving event
The Gloria Mcclellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace Drive, is hosting a feast and activities in celebration of Thanksgiving starting at 11 a.m. Nov. 22 at the Park Terrace Café. Highlights include a turkey trot, monthly birthday celebrations and a traditional Thanksgiving meal served at noon.
