Christmas Choral Celebration on Dec. 2
The International Chorus Champions Masters of Harmony and award-winning Pacific Coast Harmony chorus will present “Christmas Joy! Author to give free talk at Miracosta campus
The LIFE (Learning is for Everyone) group at San Elijo holds a free community lecture from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the San Elijo Campus of Miracosta College, 3333 Manchester Ave., Room 204. Robert Pacilio, author and an award-winning teacher in San Diego, uses rock ‘n’ roll lyrics and films to help students unlock the power and mystery of literature. In his latest book, “It Was Never About the Books,” he shares vignettes of students who touched his heart, and whose paths he, in turn, changed inexorably. CARLSBAD Annual Christmas Boutique and Bake Sale
The Ladies of the Altar Society of St. Patrick Church at 3821 Adams St. will hold its annual Christmas Boutique and Bake Sale from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 19. There will be a large selection of Christmas decorations, new and used unique gifts and decorative items, and homemade baked goods. Proceeds benefit the church community.
Community service camp for children
A “Praise, Gratitude & Service” camp will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 2022 at Alga Norte Park for ages 5 to13. The camp will include art, games and a community service project. Genetic genealogist Carol Rolnik, who aids law enforcement across the U.S. and Canada, will present “An Investigative Genetic Case Study,” about a homicide case that was unsolved for 29 years until solved by genetic genealogy. Dozens of residents of all ages joined a Breast Cancer Walk for Prevention and Wellness Fair at The Shoppes at Carlsbad, before the mall opened on a recent Saturday. The mall hosted the Escondido-based Helen Knoll Foundation for its first such 5K event and wellness fair with a celebration presented by the United Breast Cancer Foundation. The walk raised money for early breast cancer screening and detection services supported by the Helen Knoll Foundation.

Tibetan monks visiting from Nov. 19 to Dec. 3
Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Phukhang Monastery in southern India will be visiting North County from Nov. 19-Dec. 3 as part of an 18-month tour of the United States. The primary purpose of the tour is to share their Sacred Earth and Healing Arts, to raise money for the daily needs of 1,700 monks and to provide for their university temples. While in Encinitas, the monks will construct a labor-intensive sand mandala at the Seaside Center of Spiritual Living, 1613 Lake Drive. The monks will be in the sanctuary from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sundays. The public is welcome to watch the monks work on the mandala and ask questions. They will set up their arts and crafts tables in the sanctuary. Donations are appreciated. Pine Valley Camp Christmas, a holiday festival for all ages, starts Friday and runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays through Sundays in November, and Dec. 1-3, 8-10, 15-17 and 19-23 at 8668 Pine Creek Road.
