UCONN EXTENDS NONCONFERE­NCE WIN STREAK

Tristen Newton scored 22 points to lead No. 6 Uconn to a 107-67 rout of visiting Stonehill College on Saturday.

Freshman Stephon Castle had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the defending national champions, who have won 19 consecutiv­e nonconfere­nce games, which includes last season’s run through the NCAA Tournament.

Donovan Clingan added 16 points in 17 minutes; Alex Karaban scored 15 points; and Cam Spencer added 12 for the Huskies (2-0).

Jackson Benigni had 22 points to lead Stonehill (1-2), which is in its second year of Division I basketball.

Kent State 79, Fresno State 69: Jalen Sullinger scored 17 points as host Kent State (2-1) beat Fresno State. Xavier Dusell led the way for the Bulldogs (1-1) with 18 points.

Bradley 70, Utah State 66 (OT): Darius Hannah’s dunk with 2:12 left in overtime gave Bradley (2-0) the lead for good. Great Osobor scored a game-high 22 for the visiting Aggies (1-1).

Wyoming 80, Cal Poly 66: Cam Manyawu scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds as the host Cowboys (2-0) beat Cal Poly (1-2) despite 25 points from Jarred Hyder.

Santa Clara 82, St. Francis (Pa.) 59: Carlos Marshall Jr. scored 25 points as Santa Clara (2-0) defeated the visiting Red Flash (0-3).

Marquette 71, No. 23 Illinois 67: Jordan King had 19 points with clutch free throws late and host Marquette (2-0) beat Illinois (1-1).
