SAN DIEGO — Robert George Juhasz, a long-time San Diego resident who worked as an engineer for Ncr/teradata, General Dynamics and several other technology companies, died December 15 at his home from complications of kidney failure and a recent battle with cancer. He was 76.

Mr. Juhasz was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was raised in rural Chardon, Ohio. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University’s School of Engineering and an MBA from the University of San Diego. One of his first jobs after moving to San Diego in 1978 was as a shipping manager at Fluid Controls, a small manufacturing company. He also worked as an engineer at General Dynamics and spent most of his career at NCR/ Teradata, where he held a number of positions, ending as Product Manager for computer systems.

Mr. Juhasz was extremely active during his life. He enjoyed trying new things and had many hobbies. Golf was an important passion, and he made many long-lasting friendships on the course. He also loved riding his bike, hiking and even began to learn how to play the guitar in recent years. He was proud that he was the first in his family to graduate from college, and even prouder to earn a Master’s degree.

Mr. Juhasz is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Rob, and daughter-in-law, Brooke of Los Angeles; his sister, Dorothy Smith, of Conneaut, Ohio; and brother, Ken, of Indiana. His parents, Mary and Joseph Juhasz, of Tampa, Fla., and his brother, Donald, of Middlefield, Ohio, preceded him in death.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 1 p.m., January 27 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Serra Mesa (2696 Melbourne Drive). The family suggests that donations be made to the University of San Diego or Cleveland State University School of Engineering.
