LAKESIDE, CA — Mary Anne Neumann passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023. Mary Anne was born in Lemmon, South Dakota to Gotlieb and Emilie Stoll.

In 1952, after marrying Herman Neumann, she moved to California where they first opened and ran a gas station in the Bostonia area of El Cajon. Soon thereafter, they started a bus line and Mary Anne drove the bus route for Convair. They eventually settled in Lakeside where she and Herman founded their company “Neumann Caribbean Int’l”, which they ran successful­ly for many years.

Mary Anne was an avid traveler and loved taking new adventures to destinatio­ns both far and near. She made so many friendship­s over the years and devoted her life to helping others by being a donor and volunteer to numerous organizati­ons. Just a few that benefited from Mary Anne’s generosity: Heart to Heart, Doctors without Borders, Pheasants Forever Wildlife Conservati­on, St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1st Lutheran Church, 1st Lutheran Outreach programs and many, many others.

She is survived, loved and greatly missed by her daughter Delilah Neumann and Delilah’s lifelong partner Jeff Handgis, son Charles (Chuck) Neumann and his wife Kerri. Grandchild­ren Ashley and Maxwell (who shares Mary Anne’s birthday) along with four great-grandchild­ren Heidi, Alice, Mila and Baerett. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, sister Ruth and brothers Kurt, Emil and Walter.

Funeral services will be held on February 3, 10:00 AM at 1st Lutheran Church 867 S. Lincoln Ave. El Cajon, CA 92020.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the 1st Lutheran Church Preschool, 867 S. Lincoln Ave.
