SANTEE — Joyce Lucille Kinder Beaver Cook was born in Basin WY on 12/13/27 to G.estel and Thelma (Massey) Kinder. She is survived by sister Sharon (Keithdeceased) Jennings and she joined brother Glen (June-deceased) Kinder, in heaven on 1/16/24.

Joyce wed Cecil Beaver in 1946. Four children arrived quickly: Linda (Bill-deceased) Hill, Doug (Cheryl) Beaver, Craig-deceased (Lyndee) Beaver and Teresa (Lyle) Bell. These four gave her 11 grandkids: Denise (Tom) Addis, Laura Petreyko, Derek (Christina) Beaver, Sarah (Jesse) Sterns, Jacque Nelson, Coree Henderson, Stacee Williams, JR (Theresa) Beaver, Troy (Karla) Bell, Krystal (Adam) Scott, Jared Bell. 26 great grandchildren have been produced as well as 9 (one on the way) great-greats!

Joyce and Cecil had a busy military life with kids-school, sports, friends-and Joyce began working as a secretary in 1959. She was dealt a blow after both had retired when Cecil died in 1973. Rejoining the workforce as an executive secretary, Joyce also traveled abroad and joined community groups. On a camping trip with friends she met Charles (Chuck) Cook and they married in 1979. This event blessed her with stepdaughters: Susan (Michael) Henry and

Cindi (Juan) Gonzalez. In time the addition of 4 grandchildren: Ben (Tricia) Henry, Jeremy Henry, Kristen (Erik) Loyola and Megan Gonzalez, who then added 6 more great grands! Joyce enjoyed traveling within and outside of the US, RV camping, and boating-even though she did NOT like to swim. She loved to experience new people and places, maps, music, museums, reading and baking. But she also went on hot air balloon rides, white water rafting and zip lining. After Chucks death in 2009 it was harder for Joyce to bounce back. Her positive outlook, friends and family kept her going. She was also baptized during this season of her life. Joyce reconnected with an old friend they had known from work days. She and Steve Carnahan were travel buddies, crossword and game enthusiasts and good companions for her last 8 years prior to moving into Lantern Crest Senior Living Memory Care. Many people have described her as sweet, kind and caring; she never spoke badly about anyone. However, she was also sassy, sharp witted and she loved a good prank! A password Joyce liked to use (with variations) was: Smile. A perfect word to remember her by.
