A 65-year-old man was stabbed once in the back on a street in Barrio Logan on Tuesday, San Diego police said.

He reported the attack about 1:20 p.m. on National Avenue near South 26th Street.

The man’s wound was initially thought to be life-threatening because of the amount of blood loss, police said. After he was taken to a hospital, staff determined the wound was not life-threatening.

Information about what led up to the stabbing was not available, and police did not have a detailed description of the assailant.
