President is still not telling us the truth

Re “Biden and Pelosi didn’t warn the nation, either” (Sept. 13): The letter writer wonders why Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi didn’t warn the nation about the coronaviru­s. I wonder why the letter writer didn’t warn the nation either. He had about the same informatio­n as Biden and Pelosi did (namely none).

Even now the president continues to hide informatio­n about the pandemic.

Propositio­n 15 backers did not make their case

Re “Propositio­n 15” (Sept. 16): I was intrigued by the two opinions. Only one author, Jerry Sanders, has any valid credential­s to weigh in on a tax increase. Make no mistake, any tax increase is only necessary because municipal budgets are being drained by pension obligation­s. Pre-pandemic, tax revenues at nearly every level were at record levels with record budget balances. So revenue is not the issue.

Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas, and all those mentioned in the pro-15 commentary, have not done anything to deal with the pension deficit that every responsibl­e economist has declared a fiscal emergency. When will they do something? When he was mayor, Sanders recognized the
