Re “Let’s find people to keep our polls open” (Sept. 13): The letter writer has assumed the Registrar of Voters would be doing the election as in the past. That is not the case. I have been a poll worker for decades and decided I would volunteer again for November. This year, instead of volunteering I was hired at an hourly rate. My discussions with staff indicate numerous changes to safeguard both the public and the poll workers.

It would be wonderful to have people of all ages working the election for this vital democratic process. The minimum age is 16 but there is no maximum age.
