Santee rebate program ready to help

The Reopen Santee Rebate Program for small businesses is now open. The program will provide rebates to local small businesses to offset their costs of implementi­ng the safety measures needed to reopen according to state and county guidelines. Applicants may qualify to receive a one-time rebate of 80 percent of qualified expenses incurred in implementi­ng COVID-19 safety measures, up to a maximum $10,000. Apply at https:// bit.ly/3j3KpN2.

‘Badge of Honor’ awards go to students

Wheelhouse Credit Union (Wheelhouse) has awarded eight $1,000

“Badge of Honor” scholarshi­ps to college-bound students to honor the efforts of San Diego County’s first responders and their families during the pandemic. The scholarshi­ps were awarded to incoming college freshmen with a parent/grandparen­t/legal guardian who is an active member of law enforcemen­t, fire protection service, health care or EMT in San Diego County. In South and East County, winners are Lainey Bowler, West Hills High School, Santee; Madalyn Garnica, Bonita Vista High School, Chula Vista; and Ethan Rosado, Liberty Charter High School, Lemon Grove.
