Point Loma Nazarene Men’s Tennis
Paintal, a junior, is a graduate of
Temecula where he played at No. 1 in singles while lettering all four years. In his rookie campaign at Point Loma,
Paintal won three matches while playing in the Nos. 5 and 6 slots.
The 5-foot-9, 141-pound athlete excelled on and off the tennis court — he was a PacWest All-Academic selection. Paintal will look to continue his strong play this coming spring.

Brian Gonzalez Cal Baptist Men’s Soccer
Gonzalez, a Chaparral High
School alumnus, appeared in 18 games during his rookie season for the Lancers. He made seven starts and notched two goals and two assists. The following fall, he playing in 18 games and scored four goals while making the All-WAC Honorable Mention team. Gonzalez has also been named to the WAC
All-Academic team in both of his seasons. Off the field, Gonzalez majors in business administration.
Parker Scalzo Point Loma Nazarene Men’s Soccer
Scalzo, a junior out of Murrieta
Valley High School, plays forward for the Sea Lions. The 6-foot-3, 165pound athlete burst on the scene in 2018, appearing in 11 games with one start and finishing second on the team in points with 10. He scored five goals, which was also good for second on the team. While at Murrieta Valley, Scalzo earned first-team All-League honors as a senior while being named Offensive MVP for his team. Off the field at Point Loma, Scalzo majors in business finance.
Jessica Zona Whittier College Women’s Golf
Zona graduated from Chaparral High School where she was her team’s MVP her senior year. She also won the team’s Character
Award. She is now a junior at Whittier College. In February, Zona finished 40th at the SCIAC Championships with a 96-102 two-day total.
She finished 36th at the ERAU Co
Ed Invitational with a 86-92-94 three-day total. At the Bulldog Invitational, Zona had her best-ever performance as a Poet, earning an 89-97 two-day total to finished in 33rd place.
