Pedestrian struck, killed on I-805 in Lincoln Park

SAN DIEGO

A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night on Interstate 805 in San Diego’s Lincoln Park neighborho­od, authoritie­s said.

Details from a California Highway Patrol incident log indicated the man might have been involved in some sort of fight or road-rage incident, though the exact circumstan­ces of the incident were not immediatel­y clear.

A 911 caller first reported a pedestrian on the northbound side of the freeway about 9:45 p.m. between Imperial Avenue and Market Street, according to the CHP log.

At 9:50 p.m., the man was apparently struck by at least one vehicle. He died at the scene, according to the CHP.

One 911 caller reported that before being struck by the vehicle, the man had gotten out of a black SUV and punched the 911 caller’s windshield.

Caltrans San Diego tweeted that the left lanes of the freeway were blocked as emergency crews responded to the crash.

No other details were immediatel­y available.
