Vanderbilt (0-7, 0-7 SEC) at Missouri (3-3, 3-3), 9 a.m., SEC:
Kentucky (3-5, 3-5 SEC) at No. 6 Florida (6-1, 6-1), 9 a.m., ESPN:
Can anyone stop Florida QB Kyle Trask? The fifth-year senior has thrown for 2,554 yards, with 31 touchdown passes and just three interceptions. Widely considered the Heisman Trophy front-runner, Trask has more TD passes than any previous Heisman winner through seven games. The Gators could lose one of their final three games and still win the SEC’s East Division. But a loss likely would undercut their chances of securing a spot in the College Football Playoff if they win the SEC title game. Slow starts, missed tackles, blown assignments, poor communication and big plays galore, the Gators have been dealing with defensive issues all year.
These two teams are rarely (ever?) worth watching, but today could be different with Vanderbilt announcing that women’s soccer player Sarah Fuller will don a football uniform and be poised to become the first woman to play in a Power 5 game. COVID-19 protocols and restrictions have left coach Derek Mason with a limited number of specialists available today. Missouri and Vanderbilt were supposed to play each other last month, only to have a combination of positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing force the Southeastern Conference to juggle the schedule. The juggling continued this week: In the most 2020 combination of events, the Tigers had their game against Arkansas postponed from today to another date for the same reason while Vanderbilt likewise had its game against Tennessee pushed back.
