RAMONA RALLIES AROUND FAMILY OF TEEN KILLED ON SKATEBOARD
14-year-old boy was hit by pickup while riding with friends
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family of a Ramona teenager who was killed when he was hit by a pickup last week in the San Diego Country Estates neighborhood.
Logan Krapf, 14, was killed around 7:20 p.m. Nov. 24 when a man driving east on Barona Mesa Road near La Plata Court ran into Krapf while he was on his skateboard. The teen was riding with two friends, one on a bicycle and one on a skateboard, when he was hit.
The 20-year-old driver remained on the scene and cooperated with California Highway Patrol investigators. Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash, a CHP spokesman said.
A family friend organized the fundraiser, which so far has raised more than $19,000 for the family. A photo on the fundraising site shows Logan and his family members, all dressed in matching pajamas.
“For those of you who had the chance to meet Logan (you) know he was the most loving, kind-hearted and free-spirited teenager who enjoyed playing football, riding motorcycles and bikes with friends and spending time with his parents and three younger siblings (although he’d never admit it),” Courtney Dennis wrote on the GoFundMe site. “He was tremendously loved.”
Logan’s mother, Amber Krapf, has questioned whether the driver of the pickup was speeding at the time of the collision. A CHP spokesman on Monday said the collision remains under investigation and that no other information was being released.
