New dean of extended learning appointed Palomar College offers virtual ‘Carol’
Godfrey Gibbison has been appointed as the dean of Extended Learning at California State University San Marcos, effective Jan. 18. Gibbison comes to CSUSM from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, where he most recently was dean of The Graduate School. Gibbison also served at the college as dean of the School of Professional Studies, and launched its Bachelor of Professional Studies program in 2013. He was responsible for creating the college’s Bachelor of General Studies program, its first fully online degree, as well as certificate programs in project management and other business areas. He also expanded services to military and veteran students. Gibbison is a Fulbright Scholar and earned his doctorate in economics from Virginia Tech, his master’s in agricultural economics from Iowa State University and his bachelor’s in economics from the University of the West Indies. Palomar Performing Arts will take audiences on an uplifting and ghostly reimagining of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. today and Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
