San Diego lifeguards rescue man caught in rip current off Mission Beach
San Diego lifeguards rescued a man who was knocked off a boogie board and caught in a strong rip current off Mission Beach on Sunday, an official said Tuesday.
A “big set of waves” during high surf caused the man, in his 20s, to fall in the ocean about 2:10 p.m. near the foot of Santa Clara Place, said San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz.
She said lifeguards spotted him and pulled him from the water, then started CPR before medics took him to a hospital.
An update on his condition was not available Tuesday.
