S.D. UNIFIED EXPECTED TO UPDATE REOPENING TIMELINE
Amid changing school reopening guidance and delays in getting COVID-19 vaccines to school staff members, San Diego Unified is expected to release a new reopening timeline and other details of a revised reopening plan at its school board meeting today.
The meeting will be broadcast online at 5 p.m. on the district’s YouTube page and on ITV Channel 16.
District staffers will explain San Diego Unified’s path to reopening and next steps. The district also will report on student attendance during distance learning and participation of students in the district’s limited “Phase One” in-person support services, according to the board agenda. Phase One allows small groups of certain students to meet in person with school employees for extra support.
The district announced earlier this month that it is committed to offering in-person instruction for the rest of its students in the fall of the coming school year.
But whether the district
allows the company to market San Diego’s Get It Done software to other cities and government agencies. City officials say other cities have expressed interest in copying the tipster app, which lets residents report potholes, graffiti and 50 other issues.
The deal will allow San Diego to get compensation for developing the app, while reducing the startup and development costs for other cities. It’s not clear how many other cities will pay for the software, but San Diego officials say the city could get as much as $1.15 million.
“We believe our targeted customers are small to midsize cities,” said Sarah Brenha, the city’s program manager for corporate sponsorships.
The city will receive 100 percent of the “royalties” from any deals. Deloitte will be paid to implement the app and its software for other cities and government agencies.
Get It Done!, launched in 2016, will unveil a new version soon that includes a Spanish language option.
San Diego’s other corporate sponsorship deals include a partnership with Turfstar, which is providing the city $7.5 million in cash and other contributions over 12 years in exchange for an equipment and maintenance deal that includes work at Torrey Pines Golf Course during this June’s U.S. Open.
