Re “Your say on the future of the GOP” (Feb. 27): In Saturday’s paper there

was a section concerning the future of the GOP. The very first letter stated that the GOP needed new leaders, new ideas and proceeded to list eight of these new ideas.

Six of these ideas are part of the Democratic Party’s core beliefs: education reform, health care reform, antitrust legislation, climate change science, tax code revision and comprehensive immigration reform.

The GOP I grew up with stood for smaller government and fiscal responsibility. Under Donald Trump, the face of the GOP, the budget deficit grew more than under any other president.

The very wealthy gained a lot while the rest of us stayed the same. Maybe it is time the author of that letter left the GOP and voted to help all Americans. Michele Rose
