RAMONA — Surrounded by family at home, Luke Parker Jr. – a good and faithful one – peacefully passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Feb. 28, 2021.

Luke was a strong yet humble patriotic man with many roles and callings. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, World War II veteran, businessman and land developer.

Luke was born in Horatio, Ark. to Luke Parker Sr. and Minnie Ree Smith. He grew up in Valliant, Okla., along with his two brothers and four sisters – Otis, Louis, Grace, Kay, Merle and Norma – all of whom preceded him in death. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Luke moved to California, where he met and married Joyce Farmer. They were married for more than 70 years and have four grateful sons, who all welcomed loving wives into the family: Randall (Kathy), Alan (Sandy), Ronnie (Patricia) and Christopher (Tiffany). Luke was also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and great-grandfather to three.

Luke was called by our country and Army to fight Nazi Germany during World War II. As an Army 84th Infantry Division Master Sergeant, Luke survived five freezing months as a prisoner of war. In September 2017, Luke was invited to be part of the Honor Flight San Diego, a trip that honored the heroes of the “Greatest Generation” and took them to visit the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C.

Luke and Joyce loved their RV travels across America the Beautiful and many other travels around the world. Luke also loved being part of the San Carlos Club where he played tennis with Joyce and his many friends.

His family and so many others will miss Luke’s strength, calmness, wisdom, laughter and harmonica playing.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Honor Flight San Diego in Luke’s name.
