He struck out three batters and threw 26 of his 43 pitches for strikes. … LHP Ryan Weathers (5.14 ERA) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk in three innings in his third appearance this spring. The Reds’ Nick Castellano­s did most of the damage, doubling and tripling off the 21-year-old rookie. Weathers struck out two. … LHP Tim Hill (0.00 ERA) struck out two in a perfect inning. He has eight strikeouts against one walk in four innings this spring. … RHP Keone Kela (0.00 ERA) stranded a leadoff walk. … RHP Mason Fox (10.80 ERA) allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning before RHP Mason Thompson (15.43) was asked to fetch the final out, a strikeout with a sweeping slider. Thompson hit 98 mph with his fastball.

Extra bases: Sunday was the first day in which teams were not allowed to roll innings. On cue, Reds manager David Bell pulled starter TeJay Antone with the traffic piling up in the second inning and asked minor leaguer Reiver Sanmartin to get the final out. Antone returned to throw a one-two-three third inning but left after sustaining a mild right groin strain before throwing a pitch in the fourth inning.
