SAN DIEGO — Andrew George Schneider, Jr. of San Diego (born June 5, 1931 New York, New York) died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 4, 2021. Captain Schneider proudly served with the US Navy and also had a long career as an auditor with the Naval Audit Office, the Veterans Administration and the County of
San Diego. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Prep, Fordham University, and was awarded two master’s degrees, in economics and business administration. He was known as a brilliant but gentle soul to friends and family alike; respectful, kind, considerate, honest, direct; the steady rock of a growing family. He served as a constant source of inspiration to his children. He was predeceased by his wife Margarita Carmen Munoz Seraballs, of 67 years. He is a member of Our Lady of Grace parish. He is survived by his children: Andrew SchneiderMunoz;
Angela Schneider; Pablo Schneider and his wife Debby; Margarita Munoz and her husband John Hughes; Julia Scott and her husband John; and Peter Schneider and his wife Vicky; 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

The investment firms Blackstone and Starwood Capital announced Monday that they planned to acquire the hotel operator Extended Stay America for $6 billion. The hotel chain had a 74 percent occupancy rate last year, above the industry average, with many rooms filled by essential workers. The company’s new owners hope those rooms will soon add more tourists and traveling professionals. Extended Stay has about 600 U.S. locations.
