Capitals 6, Sabres 0: Alex Ovechkin matched Phil Esposito for sixth on the NHL list with his 717th goal, and visiting Washington beat Buffalo. Ovechkin scored in the third period, helping send the Capitals to their fifth straight win with his 1,299th career point — one shy of becoming the 35th player to reach 1,300.

He scored from the slot off a pass from former Sabre Conor Sheary, who found Ovechkin cutting toward the net. Ovechkin snapped a quick shot past Carter Hutton, who was screened. Penguins 4, Bruins 1: Evgeni Malkin scored on a power play for his 1,100th career point, leading host Pittsburgh to the victory. Malkin is the third Russian-born player to reach 1,100 points in the NHL, joining Alex Ovechkin and Sergei Fedorov. Malkin has eight goals on the season and also had an assist while extending his point streak to eight games.

Flyers 5, Rangers 4 (OT): Jakub Voracek scored 3:47 into overtime, sending Philadelph­ia to the win over New York at Madison Square Garden.

Predators 4, Lightning 1: Calle Jarnkrok had a short-handed goal and three assists, helping Nashville to the road win over Tampa Bay.

Panthers 6, Blackhawks 3: Aleksander Barkov scored a tiebreakin­g short-handed goal in the third period, sending host Florida to its fourth consecutiv­e win.

Canucks 3, Senators 2 (OT): J.T. Miller scored in overtime for visiting Vancouver, and Thatcher Demko made 44 saves.

Canadiens 4, Jets 2: Tyler Toffoli had two goals, including an emptynette­r in the final minute, and visiting Montreal defeated Winnipeg.

Flames 4, Oilers 3: Noah Hanifin scored at 6:32 of the third period to give Calgary a win over Edmonton at home.

Golden Knights 2, Sharks 1: Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty had a goal and assist each as Vegas beat San Jose at home.

Blues at Kings, ppd.: Los Angeles was snowbound in Colorado after Sunday’s game vs. the Avalanche. No makeup date has been set.
