LAKESIDE

The Helix Water District is holding its 10th annual Lake Jennings Spring Photo Contest of pictures of the reservoir taken between now and the end of May.

The contest theme is “Life at the Lake.” Photographs can capture any aspect of the lake, including boating, camping, landscape, lake vistas and views, people, and wildlife and wildflowers. Photos can be shot in color or black and white.

All images must be digital. There is a limit of three entries per person. Photos may not contain watermarks.

Helix will award cash prizes for first ($150), second ($100) and third place ($50), plus ribbons for honorable mention. Monetary prizes will be offered in two divisions, adult and youth.

Helix Water District staff members will judge the photos based on this year’s theme, visual appeal, technical quality and creativity. Awards will be presented at a public board meeting in June.

Helix had to postpone the 2020 contest because of closures related to COVID-19. This year, the larger recreational side of the reservoir remains open for visitors and photographers, while current health orders limit access to the lake’s campground to only registered campers.

Check the Lake Jennings website for up-to-date information and safety guidelines at lakejennings.org

The contest started March 1. Entries must be submitted digitally to photocontest@helixwater.org by 11:59 p.m. May 31. The complete set of rules and entry forms can be downloaded at www.lakejennings.org/photo-contest
