Batter’s box: Fernando Tatis Jr. walked one of his two times up Monday. He reached base in all but three of the 15 games he played and finished Cactus League play with a .375 average and 1.163 OPS in 36 plate appearance­s. … Ha-seong Kim walked both times he batted. He went 4-for-13 with five walks in his final six games after starting the spring 3-for-29. … Tucupita Marcano was 1-for-3 and finished the spring with a .405 average and .479 on-base percentage, both team highs among those with more than five plate appearance­s. … Jurickson Profar was 1-for-3. He went 4-for-14 with three walks in his final six games after beginning the spring 1-for-31.

Balls and strikes: Dinelson Lamet allowed a run on two hits, a walk and a hit batter in the first inning before retiring the only batter he faced in the second. … Tim Hill finished a scoreless spring (61⁄3 innings) with two-thirds of an inning in place of Lamet. … Chris Paddack started but could not finish the fourth inning, leaving with one out and the bases loaded. He was charged with six runs. Paddack returned to pitch the next two innings, allowing a run in each. … Taylor Williams pitched a scoreless eighth inning. After allowing six runs in his first six innings of the spring, Williams allowed just one hit and no runs in his final three games (22⁄3 innings).

Extra bases: The starting outfield was made of the three players who battled for two bench spots all spring — Brian O’Grady in left field, Jorge Mateo in center and Marcano in right.

On deck: The Padres are off today and will work out Wednesday at Petco Park before beginning the season at 1:10 p.m. Thursday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbac­ks. Yu Darvish will start for the Padres, Madison Bumgarner for Arizona.
