Efforts to make Biden look bad fall short

-

Re “Bring back empathy” (April 3): Conservatives are desperate to divert us from from Joe Biden’s success against COVID-19, his stimulus win and on infrastructure.

Fox News opted to focus on immigration and the Andrew Cuomo debacle. Ruben Navarrette realized it’s hard to blame Cuomo on Biden, so he took aim Saturday at immigration and gun violence.

His twisted logic is that Biden suddenly lacks the empathy to deal with these intractable problems. Really?

At one point Navarrette even writes “Republicans — who now, all of a sudden, care what happens to brown-skinned people who cross the border — blame the flood of refugees on what is supposed to be Biden’s kinder and gentler approach to arrivals.”

In Navarrette’s world, pigs are suddenly flying and hell is freezing over. It’s the GOP, not Biden, that lacks the empathy to address these problems.

Sunday, on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” Chris Christie called President Biden a liar and a hypocrite because he said that Biden wasn’t being bipartisan. This from a discredited politician who supported who I think is the biggest liar in the history of the presidency.

Apart from the obvious lie, the lack of respect for the office, if not the man, calls for this myopic Trumpster apologist to be banned from social media and appearances on TV where he can share his disrespect.

The fact that more than 61% of Republicans still believe the big lie, that Donald Trump won the election, is bad enough, but attacking the current president with zero evidence is unacceptable.

The Republicans are still using the Mitch McConnell playbook to do everything

they can to cancel anything Biden is trying to do for the good of the country. They are disloyal, traitorous and un-American.
