Rangers 2, Sabres 1: Alexandar Georgiev stopped 36 shots and New York extended one of the best starts in team history with a win at Buffalo. The Rangers hung on after a video review determined Sabres’ defenseman Rasmus Dahlin was offside to negate Victor Olofsson’s goal with 57 seconds remaining.

Penguins 4, Capitals 2: Danton Heinen, Brock McGinn and Kasperi Kapanen scored, Sidney Crosby had two assists and visiting Pittsburgh held on to beat rival Washington.

Predators 3, Devils 2: Juuse Saros made 29 saves and Nashville defeated host New Jersey.

Avalanche 7, Red Wings 3: Andre Burakovsky had two goals, Darren Helm scored in his first game against his former team, and host Colorado became the first team in 26 years to score seven goals in three straight games.

Panthers 3, Coyotes 1: Patric Hornqvist and Sam Bennett scored 10 seconds apart in the first period, and Sam Reinhard scored in his fourth straight game to give Florida a win at Arizona.

Flyers 4, Golden Knights 3: Sean Couturier and James van Riemsdyk each had power play goals in the third period to make the difference for visiting Philadelph­ia. Max Pacioretty scored twice for Vegas.

Canucks 4, Jets 3 (SO): Elias Pettersson beat Winnipeg goalie Eric Comrie for the only goal during the shootout in Vancouver’s victory. Kyle Connor had a goal and two assists for the Jets.

Thursday’s late results

Jets 3, Kraken 0: Kyle Connor scored two goals and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 25 shots to lead Winnipeg to a win at Seattle. It was the Jets’ first shutout of the season.

Kings 4, Stars 0: Adrian Kempe and Arthur Kaliyev scored as host Los Angeles defeated Dallas. Jonathan Quick had 27 saves for his second shutout of the season and 56th of his career.

Wild 5, Sharks 2: Jordan Greenway scored twice and visiting Minnesota beat San Jose for its eighth straight win.

Notable

The NHL is sticking to its plan to allow its players to compete in the Beijing Olympics. For now. Speaking at the conclusion of the board of governors meeting in Florida, Commission­er Gary Bettman said the league will continue to honor its commitment to giving players the opportunit­y to compete for gold in February.
