ESCONDIDO — Shirley Jane (Lannin) Bartlette

July 26, 1930 to November 14, 2021

Shirley passed at her home in San Marcos with family at her side. Married to Victor Bartlette for 52 years and raised three sons Harold, Richard and Gary.

To honor and thank Mom for always being the consummate mother. Always happiest when there were children to care for, she cared for her own children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and several foster children. Mom passed quietly at home and will be missed by all.

Harold, son.

You have been the ever constant in my life. You made even the smallest moments in my life special. My child’s heart nestled in joy just sitting in your lap. In turn you held my own son with the same care and tenderness that you wrapped around the younger me. You were all that was good and safe: a calm and steady reassurance of family. You gave first without hesitation, never asking anything for yourself. You were my best example,

my best person! I have thought many times in my adult life that if I could reach only half your quiet influence, I would be a person of stature. No matter how long you have someone, it is not long enough. Thank you for the adventures and laughter through the joyous paths. Thank you for leaving me a legacy of believing in love and loyalty through the weary paths. You are truly missed. May the Lord lead you and carry you in His arms forever. [Paslm 28:9]

Colleen, granddaughter.

Grandma Shirley was a calm and loving constant in my life. She was a wonderful letter writer, so even when she was far away, you felt like she was right there. She always had a pot of coffee going and a big hug. She will be missed terribly, we will hold her in our hearts forever.

Marlee, granddaughter.

Grandma, I love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.

Dawn, granddaughter.

Grandma Shirley didn’t have a bad bone in her body. I have only good memories of her. She, of course, influenced who I am through the way she raised my father and my life long continuity with her. She had a kind heart and was a tireless worker. She always kept busy and didn’t ask for help, even when she should have. Above all, selfless toward her family and close friends. We will all miss her.

Brandon, grandson.

I love you grandma. You are such a loving person and I’m so grateful for all the memories I have with you.

Sierra, great granddaughter.

I love you so much grandma, Your life was full of contentment and joy. Your presence brought so much meaning to my life. All your grandchildren have so much appreciation for you and your loving character. We miss you grandma, thank you for everything.

Mia, great granddaughter.
