LA MESA — Jacquelyn (Jackie) McMaster was born in December 1934 in Sacramento, California. Jackie passed away peacefully with her daughter and son by her side on December 7, 2021 in La Mesa, California.

She lived in San Francisco, California where she completed her degree to become a Registered Nurse (RN). She met her husband, Tim, on a blind date during this time. They married in August 1955 and had four children.

Being in a Navy family, Jackie and Tim transferred to the San Diego area settling in El Cajon where Jackie worked as an RN at Grossmont Hospital during the 1960’s and 1970’s. She later worked at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Virginia during the four years (1972-1976) when Tim was assigned to Navy Personnel Command in northern Virginia. The family returned to El Cajon in 1976, and Jackie later returned to work at Grossmont and then was a director of a Home Health Agency until her retirement from nursing.

Tim and Jackie shared a passion for genealogy and travelled extensively in the United States while doing their research. Jackie continued with that work following Tim’s passing in 2006. She traced the family ancestry back to the Cromwell days (the 1600’s) in England, Scotland and Ireland.

Jackie moved to Santee in 2008 and was an active member of the Santee United Methodist Church and was the Membership and Hospitality Chair for United Methodist Women. She lived in Santee at the New Frontier community

where she was very involved in the Genealogy group and the Writers group. She moved from New Frontier to Westmont in La Mesa in August 2021.

Jackie and Tim were dedicated parents and mentors for their children. They believed in the value of education and encouraged each child to learn and read from an early age. Libraries were a big part of family outings when the children were young. She was very proud of all her children and often said that she was so pleased that all her children “owned homes” and were successful in their careers.

Jackie was predeceased by her husband Tim (2006) and her son David (2012). She leaves behind daughter Cathy Fahey and son-in-law Greg Fahey, son Mike McMaster and daughter-in-law Jo-Anne Burton, son Mark McMaster, daughter-inlaw Pam McMaster the wife of Jackie’s late son David, as well as three grandchildren; Sean Fahey, Matthew McMaster and Amy McMaster and her two brothers, Stan and Dennis Hockman. Services are pending.
