Hurricanes 7, Bruins 1: Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored twice during Carolina’s five-goal first period, Jaccob Slavin added a goal and two assists after a two-game absence, and the Hurricanes snapped host Boston’s five-game winning streak.

Islanders 4, Flyers 3 (SO): Oliver Wahlstrom scored in the ninth round of a shootout and visiting New York sent Philadelph­ia to its ninth straight loss.

Canucks 3, Predators 1: Thatcher Demko made 31 saves to lead visiting Vancouver over skidding Nashville. Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser and Juho Lammikko scored in the Canucks’ second consecutiv­e victory.

Sabres 3, Senators 1: Michael Houser made 43 saves in his season debut and Buffalo beat host Ottawa.

Canadiens 5, Stars 3: Christian Dvorak scored twice, Sam Montembeau­lt made a career-high 48 saves for his second win of the season and Montreal beat Dallas for its third road win.

Flames 5, Panthers 1: Sean Monahan scored twice, including a power play goal in the second period, to help Calgary beat visiting Florida. Matthew Tkachuk had a goal with two assists and Johnny Gaudreau had four assists for the Flames.

Lightning 6, Kings 4: Victor Hedman had two goals and an assist for visiting Tampa Bay.

Penguins 5, Golden Knights 3: Jason Zucker scored twice and visiting Pittsburgh rallied from an early three-goal deficit.

Notable

Centers Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Nazem Kadri of the Colorado Avalanche and Mika Zibanejad of the New York Rangers, and Anaheim winger Troy Terry won the final roster spots for All-Star Weekend as a result of fan voting, the NHL announced.

The Canadiens hired player agent Kent Hughes as their general manager, hoping he can turn around a team with the worst record in the NHL.

The NHL will stop testing asymptomat­ic players, coaches and staff who are fully vaccinated following the All-Star break in early February, saying coronaviru­s cases continue to decline across the league.
