June 18 TEMECULA Juneteenth celebratio­n

The city of Temecula will celebrate freedom and perseveran­ce at its Juneteenth celebratio­n from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Town Square Park in Old Town. The free, open house event marking the emancipati­on of enslaved people on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, will include live entertainm­ent, artist booths, vendors, a fun zone and food. June 19 TEMECULA Sunday Funday at Vail HQ

June 20 MURRIETA Dog Tales

The Murrieta Public Library holds its Dog Tales program at 4:30 p.m. Mondays, except holidays. The program, in partnershi­p with Love on a Leash, provides trained reading education assistance dogs for children ages 3 to 12 to read to. Arrive early to sign up for a 10-minute slot. The library is at 8 Town Square.

June 20-24 TEMECULA Safety Town

Temecula Sunrise Rotary will hold two five-day interactiv­e programs for children with a focus on safety this month at Pauba Valley Elementary School in Temecula. Safety Town teaches children ages 5 to 8 about subjects such as stranger safety, street and fire safety, and bike and water safety, among others. The program will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 20-24. The cost is $50 per person, $45 for each sibling. Participan­ts will not be turned away because of inability to pay. The San Diego Blood Bank will hold several blood drives hosted by local businesses in Southwest Riverside County from June 23 to June 27. Donors will receive a San Diego Padres blood drive T-shirt, while supplies last. Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 114 pounds and be in good health. Photo ID is required.
