‘Concerts at the Cove’ series kicks off this week

The city of Solana Beach and the Belly Up Tavern host the “Concerts at the Cove” series, which brings local musicians to the Fletcher Cove Park stage in performanc­es for all ages from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Thursdays, June 23 to Aug. 25.

The concert series offers community members, especially families, a variety of musical styles.

This summer’s lineup: Thursday, Sergio D. Tala (Mediterran­ean guitar); June 30, Slack Key Ohana with Polynesian Dancers; July 7, The Sully Band (R&B-blues); July 14, Jimmy & Enrique (world music); July 21, Fleetwood Max (tribute band); July 28, Imagery Machine (indie-alternativ­e); Aug. 4, Donnis Trio (folk rock); Aug. 11, to be announced; Aug. 18, Hullabaloo (Organic kids folk); Aug. 25, Dulaney and Company (Americana).

Coastal Roots Farm will hold summer film and music series

ENCINITAS

A five-part film and music series opens Thursday at the Coastal Roots Farm, an Encinitas-based nonprofit Jewish community farm and education center.

This year’s Farm Film & Music Series features documentar­y films, local musicians and community conversati­ons on equitable food systems, environmen­tal justice and caring for the Earth.

The first film screening, on Thursday, is “Gather,” which tells the story of Indian resilience and the renaissanc­e of Native food systems.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with live music, socializin­g and a chance to speak with local community groups. The film starts at 8:30 p.m. at the farm, 441 Saxony Road.

The remaining lineup: July 21, “A Plastic Ocean”; Aug. 18, “Unbroken Ground”; Sept. 15, “The Biggest Little Farm”; Oct. 13, “Fantastic Fungi.”
