VISTA, CA —

Liz lived a remarkable life; beloved mother, friend, and devoted servant of Christ. After graciously living with ovarian cancer for 5 years, Liz has passed. Preceded in death by parents Tom and Rita and husband Michael and survived by daughters, Madeline and Mary Grace, and siblings Tom (Monica), Michael (Cindy), and Mary Carol (Kent).

Liz (RN, BSN, MA) is recognized as a pioneer in pediatric/ perinatal palliative care. Her respect for life produced a career rooted in service to our most vulnerable. As Director of the Children’s Program of San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care Liz developed innovative care and infant loss programs that became nationally acclaimed models. She also served as Director at The Elizabeth Hospice. Numerous awards included the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s “Heart of Hospice” award and American Hospital Association’s “Circle of Life” award.

Liz embodied selfless love and charity, devoting herself to the vocation of servant leadership. Her loving care for the terminally ill served as a beautiful Christian example for how to honor the dignity of families and protect sanctity of life in all stages. Liz carried this ethic into her work on the Whole Person Care Initiative at the state and local level.

Liz was a mirror of the Holy Spirit, radiating hope, generosity, peace, and joy. She saw Jesus in everyone she met and treated them as such. Liz’s faith and trust in Christ was a source of loving charity that brought comfort and happiness to those lucky enough to me her.

Mass will be offered at St. Thomas More, Oceanside at 11am Friday June 24th.

Liz’s wish is for her loved ones to wear bright colors to the service as a celebration of the vibrant beauty of life.
