With the Titans down 10-0 to No. 1 Clovis Buchanan, the junior won 3-2 with a lastsecond escape to lead a charge that came up just short, 31-23, in the battle of the state’s top two teams.

Four 3-point field goals were part of the senior’s 20 second-half points as the Torreys, ranked No. 3 in the state, beat No. 5 Etiwanda of the Southern Section, 70-65, in a nationally televised showdown.

Just a freshman, Williams had two big games for the Cougars as he tossed in 26 points with five rebounds in a 65-57 victory over Santana before adding 26 points and six boards in a 66-53 win over West Hills.

Mira Mesa | Girls wrestling Competing at 113 pounds, the Marauders junior collected a quick pin in 1:23 and then scored a 16-1 technical fall to capture the annual Willie Jones Jr. Memorial Tournament at Lincoln.

Montgomery | Boys basketball Collecting 18 points and sweeping down seven key rebounds, the sophomore was a major factor as third-ranked Montgomery toppled San Ysidro, 78-68. The Aztecs finished the week with 15 straight victories.

Alexa Litchev Westview | Girls basketball

A double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds by the Wolverines 6footer led Westview to its sixth consecutiv­e victory, 52-36, over Rancho Bernardo in Palomar League action.
