Pilots update: The Pilots have dropped two straight, including an 82-67 home loss to No. 14 Gonzaga on Saturday. Forward Moses Wood leads the Pilots and ranks 11th in the WCC at 15.0 points per game on 44.7 percent shooting. Wood scored 26 and made 4 of 5 from 3-point range in the Jan. 19 win over USD with 18 of those points coming in the second half. Guard Tyler Robertson was another key factor in that game with 19 points and 8 assists. The Pilots lead the WCC in free throws attempted (23.9) and made (16.9) per game.

Toreros update: USD has dropped three of four and is coming off a 91-84 home loss to San Francisco. In the Jan. 19 meeting, the Toreros allowed the Pilots to shoot 61 percent from the field and 59 percent from 3-point range. On a positive note, senior G Marcellus Earlington scored a careerhigh 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting with five rebounds and three assists. Earlington is averaging 17.0 ppg over his last 10 games. Graduate senior G/F Eric Williams Jr. is averaging 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The Toreros are 7-6 at home. 6-10 sophomore C Steven Jamerson III started the last two games as coach Steve Lavin continues to tweak playing rotations in the absence of senior graduate forward Jaiden Delaire, who averaged 9.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 11 games before suffering a hand injury. USD is second in scoring in the WCC (77.2 ppg), but opponents are shooting 51.7 percent, which ranks last.
