EUSD superintendent is top administrator
Escondido Union School District Superintendent Luis Rankins-Ibarra has been named as the 2023 Superintendent of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators Region 18, which recently released a list of 23 other winners of its “Honoring Our Own” awards.
The San Diego County School Boards Association Region 17 also released its list of award winners. Both groups will honor their recipients at their 21st annual celebration, “Evening of the Stars,” on May 27 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island. Nearly 500 education leaders and friends of the education community are expected to attend.
Rankins-Ibarra has been a bilingual elementary teacher, principal, director, and assistant superintendent in human resources and in business services. He joined EUSD as superintendent in 2014.
“I am honored and humbled by this recognition,” he said in a statement. “I share this with every member of the EUSD team. I believe that this is a great testament to the collaboration and hard work of everyone in the district.”
The Association of California School Administrators Region 18 (regions.acsa.org/18) comprises nearly 1,400 educational leaders, and encompasses San Diego and Imperial counties. The 2023 Administrators of the Year chosen by the association are:
