That follows a 5-for-14 start to the spring. … La Jolla Country Day alumnus Alfonso Rivas, a first baseman, hit his team-leading second home run of the spring. … Outfielder Jose Azocar continued to hit the ball hard, lining an RBI double in his first at-bat. … Infielder Tim Lopes homered and walked and is batting .381 (8-for-21) this spring. … Outfielder David Dahl had an RBI single and walked. He is batting .269 (7-for-26).

Balls and strikes: Two of the pitchers vying for a long relief/spot starter role worked the first seven innings. Each ran into trouble in his third inning of work. Brent Honeywell allowed just an infield single in the first two innings before yielding three runs (two earned) on three hits and an error in the third. Julio Teheran followed and ran his scoreless streak to seven innings before giving up three runs on four hits in the sixth inning. He then threw a scoreless seventh inning. … After Rule 5 pick Jose Lopez allowed four runs in the eighth inning, Craig Stammen got the final two outs on a double play to run his scoreless streak to 31⁄3 innings over four appearance­s. … Tim Hill worked his second scoreless inning of the spring.

Extra bases: Pedro Severino started at catcher for the second straight day. Austin Nola worked out but was rested Tuesday after missing the previous day with flu-like symptoms. Luis Campusano was held out with a tight hamstring.
