FRIDAY’S RESULTS

-

Nationals 7, Marlins 4: Joan Adon pitched six scoreless innings of two-hit ball as visiting Washington built a six-run lead and defeated sliding Miami.

Pirates 2, Cubs 1: Mitch Keller pitched eight scoreless innings and host Pittsburgh scored twice in the first before holding on to beat Chicago. Keller allowed four hits while striking out six.

Phillies 7, Cardinals 2: Cristopher Sanchez shrugged off an early homer to pitch six strong innings, Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber homered and Philadelphia beat visiting St. Louis.

(IL) Angels 3, Mets 1: Shohei Ohtani doubled to key a two-run third inning, leading Los Angeles to a win at New York. New York (59-70) dropped below Washington into last place in the NL East — the latest the Mets have been in sole possession of the cellar this late in a season since 2005. The Mets and Yankees are both in last place this late in the season for the first time.

Diamondbacks 10, Reds 8: Tommy Pham lost a homer due to a bizarre fan interference after stretching his hitting streak to 15 games, and surging Arizona held off visiting Cincinnati. After a two-run double in the fourth, Pham sent a shot to left in the seventh. Reds outfielder Spencer Steer leaped and had the ball in his glove, seemingly robbing a homer — but a youngster stole the ball from Steer, and after initially being called a homer the play was overturned on video replay.

Braves 5, Giants 1: Spencer Strider became the major leagues’ first 15-game winner, pitching three-hit ball over seven innings in leading visiting Atlanta over slumping San Francisco.
