When: Qualifying, today, 10 a.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.; Main draw, Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., including all quarterfin­als Thursday and semifinals Friday. Singles final, 4 p.m., Sept. 16, preceded by doubles final, 1:30 p.m.

Where: Barnes Tennis Center, with bleachers added for 2,625 center court seats and 402 on an adjacent court.

Field: 32 singles players; 16 doubles teams.

Background: This is the second annual version of this tournament, which last year marked the first WTA event in the San Diego area since 2015 at La Costa Resort & Spa.

Purse and points: $780,637, including $120,150 for champion; 500 points in WTA rankings.

U.S Open anticlimax: The tourney follows the U.S. Open in a shift from mid-October a year ago. In turn, the entries include just eight ranked in the top 20, compared to 16 a year ago. The highest-ranked entry is No. 5 Ons Jabeur. No. 7 Coco Gauff was slated to play, but the American teen withdrew on the way to the U.S. Open final. Another American opted out after Madison Keys reached the Open semis.

Tickets: Prices range from $25 for qualifying to $275 for the finals. Daily double packs are available for two sessions on the same day.

Parking: General parking at South Shores Park, near Sea World, with a free shuttle. VIP parking only at tourney site.
