Kearny | Boys soccer
The Komets’ senior team captain scored three goals between the semis and title game of the Parker Tournament, giving Kearny its fourth straight crown. Kearny beat Valhalla 3-2 in the championship.
Jaylene Hughes
Mt. Miguel | Girls basketball Only a freshman, Hughes set a Mt. Miguel school single-game scoring record when she tossed in 52 points against Canyon Hills. She also had 41 against Santana and 36 versus Canyon Crest Academy.
Lincoln Newcomer
Oceanside | Boys soccer A junior, Newcomer has scored and delivered assists in all three games as the Pirates opened the season 3-0 by outscoring opponents 10-2 with wins over Santana (4-1), Vista (2-1) and Granite Hills (4-0).
Manny Hardy
Mt. Carmel | Boys soccer Scoring three goals and contributing an assist, the Sundevils senior paced Mt. Carmel to back-to-back 4-0 shutout victories over Morse and Mission Vista.
Sofia Holman
Bishop’s | Girls water polo Scoring on 10 of 11 shot attempts, the senior led the Knights past San Clemente 17-10 in the third-place game of the Villa Park Tournament. Bishop’s lost in the semifinals and came back to place third overall.
Helio Sanchez
Hoover | Boys soccer Collecting six goals in three games, the sophomore led the Cardinals to a 2-0-1 record in the Cardinal/Eagle Winter Classic Tournament. Included was a four-goal game against Calipatria.
Lucas Mora
Imperial | Boys soccer Recording three shutouts in four games, the sophomore helped the Tigers go 4-0 in the annual Grossmont Tournament. He was credited with 35 saves as Imperial outscored its opponents 7-1 to move to 5-1-1.
Aubrei Beltran
Central Union | Girls wrestling Competing at 132 pounds, the senior, who started the sport as a sophomore, won all three of her matches by fall. She needed just 79 seconds to win the Marauder Invite and give Central the team title.
