No. 5 Oklahoma escapes with win

Kyler Murray threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb in overtime, and Parnell Motley intercepte­d Kelvin Hopkins’ fourth-down pass to help No. 5 Oklahoma pull out a 28-21 victory over visiting Army on Saturday night.

“Our guys hung in there,” Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said. “They trusted that it was going to be a challenge. If there’s a couple plays that game that you don’t make, it’s going to be a close game against them. Those couple plays that we had a chance to separate, we didn’t do it.”

Army had the ball for 44:41 and ran 87 plays to Oklahoma’s 40. Army coach Jeff Monken said the Black Knights would have gone for two and the win if they had scored a touchdown on their overtime possession. The Black Knights were 4-for-4 on fourth-down conversion­s until Motley’s intercepti­on.

Murray, who is also an outfielder who was drafted by the A’s this year, passed for 165 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 71 yards and another score.

#1 Alabama 45, #22 Texas A&M 23: Tua Tagovailoa passed for 387 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score as the host Crimson Tide (4-0, 2-0 SEC) rolled. Quarterbac­k Kellen Mond and the Aggies (2-2, 0-1) couldn’t put up nearly the fight they had in a 28-26 loss to Clemson. Tagovailoa completed 22 of 30 passes before leaving after Henry Ruggs III took a shuttle pass 57 yards for a score late in the third.

#2 Georgia 43, Missouri 29: Jake Fromm threw three touchdown passes and the visiting Bulldogs (4-0, 2-0 SEC) had a 68-yard defensive touchdown and returned a blocked punt for an 8-yard score. Georgia’s defense blanketed Missouri’s wide receivers, harassed quarterbac­k Drew Lock and forced three turnovers in the first half against the Tigers (3-1, 0-1).

#3 Clemson 49, Georgia Tech 21: Freshman Trevor Lawrence came off the bench for ineffectiv­e starter Kelly Bryant to throw four touchdown passes for the visiting Tigers (4-0, 1-0 ACC) against the Yellow Jackets (1-3, 0-2).

#4 Ohio State 49, Tulane 6: Dwayne Haskins Jr. threw for 304 yards and five touchdowns in the first half and the host Buckeyes (4-0) routed the Green Wave (1-3) to mark coach Urban Meyer’s return to the sideline following a threegame suspension. Meyer was back with his team after serving a suspension for his mismanagem­ent of former assistant Zach Smith.

#6 LSU 38, Louisiana Tech 21: Nick Brossette scored three touchdowns, Clyde EdwardsHel­aire rushed for 136 yards and two TDs, and the host Tigers (4-0) beat the Bulldogs (2-1).

#8 Notre Dame 56, Wake Forest 27: Ian Book rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more for the visiting Fighting Irish (4-0). Book replaced Brandon Wimbush in the starting lineup and was 25 of 34 passing for 325 yards with scoring passes covering 3 yards to Brock Wright and 7 yards to Chase Claypool, along with three short scoring runs against the Demon Deacons.

#9 Auburn 34, Arkansas 3: Noah Igbinoghen­e scored on a 96-yard kickoff return, and a partially blocked punt by Jordyn Peters set up another touchdown as big plays on special teams helped the host Tigers (3-1, 1-1 SEC) beat the Razorbacks (1-3, 0-1).

#10 Washington 27, Arizona State 20: Jake Browning threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter and added a third TD pass early in the fourth to lead the host Huskies (3-1, 2-0 Pac-12) past the Sun Devils (2-2, 0-1).

#12 West Virginia 35, Kansas State 6: Will Grier threw five touchdown passes — three of them to David Sills — and was 25-for-35 for 356 yards and two intercepti­ons for the host Mountainee­rs (3-0, 1-0 Big 12) against the punchless Wildcats (2-2).

Kentucky 28, #14 Mississipp­i State 7: Benny Snell Jr. rushed for four touchdowns and the host Wildcats (4-0, 2-0 SEC) held the Bulldogs (3-1, 0-1) to 56 yards rushing. Texas Tech 41, #15 Oklahoma State 17: Alan Bowman threw for 397 yards and two touchdowns and the visiting Red Raiders (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) ended a
