Awkward: Fouts to broadcast L.A. game

-

Dan Fouts, the San Francisco prep legend who carved out a Hall of Fame career with the San Diego Chargers, is calling a Los Angeles Chargers game on Sunday.

In a battle of L.A., the Chargers play the host Rams at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Fouts, when talking to a San Diego radio station this summer, said, “Don’t ever refer to me as a Los Angeles Charger.”

Ian Eagle, his broadcast partner at CBS, says he won’t make that mistake Sunday.

“I know that Dan is proud of his history with the Chargers and proud of his role in that community, and that never will change. Nor should it,” Eagle told the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Fouts starred at St. Ignatius before becoming as recordsetting quarterback at Oregon. The San Diego Chargers drafted him in the third round in 1973. He played for the Chargers his entire pro career, retiring after the 1987 season.

Injuries: The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without All-Pro guard David DeCastro for a second straight week when they visit Tampa Bay on Monday night. DeCastro is recovering from a fractured right hand suffered during Pittsburgh’s Week 1 tie against Cleveland.

B.J. Finney will start in DeCastro’s place. Also, right tackle Marcus Gilbert is doubtful with a hamstring issue and safety Morgan Burnett is also doubtful with a groin injury.

 The Tennessee Titans will be without linebacker Kamalei Correa (back) and safety Kendrick Lewis (foot) against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Correa, picked up in a trade from Baltimore in August, is tied for the team lead with two sacks.
